Lead Testing in Schools and Child Care Facilities
Description:
The successful respondent, which can be a public or private entity, will be responsible to implement the scope of work for the federally-funded Lead Testing in Schools and Child Care Program Drinking Water grant, which is intended to positively impact 1,000 elementary schools and 2,000 child care providers by testing water quality. The selected respondent shall: (1) apply the Environmental Protection Agency (“EPA”)’s 3T model to communicate the testing results and important lead information to the public, parents, teachers, and the larger community throughout the implementation of the program; (2) train enrolled facility professionals on the risks of lead in drinking water and testing for lead, as well as developing key partnerships to support the program; (3) provide testing kits to each enrolled facility for voluntary testing using appropriate protocols and to a laboratory accredited in Pennsylvania to analyze lead in drinking water; and, (4) take action, including the development of a plan for responding to results of testing conducted and addressing potential elevated lead levels where necessary.
