Description:
|
The purpose of the project is to get an AFIS Fingerprint Management system replacement and consider other vendors through the RFP process rather than simply upgrading with the current vendor via a single source contract. The primary objectives are to replace non-supported components and software, cut maintenance costs and consider options involving cloud-based solutions in addition to in-house hardware purchases with their cost and support needs. The most immediate need is to find a replacement system that utilizes the latest operating systems, software and hardware that receives support across it’s environment, and at a cost that is within the targeted budget for such a system.
The current AFIS system by NEC is reaching its end of life. Annual maintenance contract costs total $650K per year and are set up to continue annually through 2022. An on staff engineer from NEC provides issue resolution on demand and has been ordering parts ahead of time for anticipated equipment failures since they have become difficult to find.
A vendor supplied solution will be acquired by PSP to provide AFIS functionality. This solution will be determined through the RFP process. PSP will procure the system to:
- Replacing the existing hardware storage software and operating systems with current technology
- Maintaining the integrity of data stored on the current system
- Providing enhanced functionality for the capture of fingerprints, photos and demographic information loaded from all peripheral devices and interfaces
- Ensuring all hardware, software and interfaces function as required by current policy and agency directives
