Description:
|
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) is mandated under federal regulations at 34 CFR Part 300 to conduct monitoring of all Local Education Agencies (LEA’s) to ensure compliance with the provisions of federal and state special education regulations. The Bureau of Special Education (BSE) has been designated as the agency for implementation and oversight of the state’s special educational monitoring system. The BSE special education monitoring system currently monitors local school districts, charter schools, cyber charter schools, correctional facilities (juvenile detention facilities, adult facilities and county prisons), Residential Treatment Facilities (RTF), Private Residential Rehabilitation Institutions (PRRIs) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). The contractor awarded this contract will work collaboratively with BSE assigned staff and all affected agencies monitored in the implementation of all components of the special education monitoring process. In addition, the Division of Federal Programs (Federal Programs) has the responsibility for general supervision and monitoring of Title 1 programs under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). Federal Programs monitors for compliance with ESEA Title 1 requirements for all eligible LEA’s.
