Description: This Project includes:  PROFESSIONAL SELECTIONS.  PROJECT TITLE:  New Penn State Abington Academic Building, Penn State University, 1600 Woodland Road, Montgomery County, Abington, PA.  BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, a new 3-story Academic Building, approximately 70,000 gross square feet that includes general purpose classrooms, labs, seminar rooms, faculty offices, a student lounge, Café, and an Administrative Suite for Academic Affairs.  Two (2) existing buildings (Hillcrest and Conference Center) are proposed to be demolished as part of this project.  New construction and an increase in impervious surfaces will require the implementation of various storm water management strategies as part of the project.  Upgrades will be required to the existing utility services to support the new Academic Building. This work will take place separately from the project but will require coordination efforts.  It is expected that this project will pursue LEED Silver Certification.    ESTIMATED CONSTRUCTION COST: $32,000,000.00.

The PROFESSIONAL SELECTIONS MEETING is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2017 AT 10:00 AM.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF SHORT-LISTED FIRMS: Interviews will be conducted with all short-listed firms. The short-listed professionals will be notified as to the date, time and location of the interviews.  A “Detailed Proposal” will be requested from short-listed firms for this project.  The following information will need to be provided:  detailed resumes for key design and management personnel with references; the firm’s approach to the project, including descriptions of tasks and scope of services, and an explanation of how the approach provides value to the Commonwealth; a detailed description from the firm’s portfolio of a project that illustrates the firm’s ability to translate design intentions into a solution that meets the client’s needs and expectations; an organizational chart and detailed work plan, identifying key personnel roles and percent of time assigned to the project; visual examples of relevant projects completed by the lead design professional and key personnel, with contact information for references for these projects; an assessment of key project issues and risks to the project; a description of how diversity will be accomplished within the team; evidence of financial capability; a list of professional liability claims and/or legal actions within the last ten years; and a non-binding fee proposal.
