Description: SERS-Human Resources Division is seeking a Training and Development Specialist to create, administer, and deliver classroom training and eLearning.  Emphasis will be placed on developing a supervisory curriculum, with other projects assigned as needed.  HR is currently understaffed and juggling a high workload.  Training has suffered since priority has to go to other tasks such as recruitment and employee relation issues.  SERS has been unable to offer consistent in-house training over the last few years.  The commonwealth mandates that supervisors receive specific trainings within a set timeframe.  Because we do not offer these courses in-house, we have to rely on the commonwealth’s Keystone Academy of Learning (KAL).  Courses fill up or are not always available when needed.  Due to turnover in agency staff, there are several new personnel who could benefit from targeted, practical, supervisory training.  Better supervisory training  and supervisor preparation may help to mitigate problems in future because supervisors will be well-prepared for their role and the responsibilities that go along with supervising.  It’s also been an extremely busy time for the agency as a whole and the workforce could benefit from additional in-house offerings on topics such as team work, communicating, managing stress, time management, etc. – skills which could help with moral and in building a more cohesive workforce.
