This Project includes: PROFESSIONAL SELECTIONS. PROJECT TITLE: Weyandt/Walsh Hall Replacement BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, a proposed new 181,944 sq. ft. building that will be situated on one (1) acre of ground currently occupied by Weyandt Hall, Walsh Hall and Leonard Hall, and adjacent to Wilson Hall. Leonard will be demolished before design begins. Wilson Hall is historic and will remain. Weyandt and Walsh Halls must be used for occupancy of the sciences program while new construction is in process, but will be demolished afterward. The new Building must also be designed to provide space for an 18,000 sq. ft. future addition. Priorities for the new construction include: fast onsite construction; flexible mechanical systems to accommodate evolving laboratory functions; and large window openings. The heating and cooling source for the building will be the campus central chilled water and steam plants. A new site domestic water service will be required. Sanitary drainage will include all soil, waste and vent piping and associated appurtenances. Storm water drainage will include all piping and associated appurtenances. A laboratory air compressor and central vacuum pump will be required. A centralized Distilled/DI water unit or point of use wall mounted units will be included in this facility. The building is to be fully sprinkled. Lighting shall be high efficiency, LED light fixtures in labs., offices, corridors, and toilet rooms. Emergency Life Safety and Standby Power shall be provided. The building will contain several specialized areas including a Vivarium, Animal Lab., Clean Room and Chemical Storage. ESTIMATED CONCSTRUCTION COST: $63,320,000.00. Please click on the link below to create a user profile and view the documents: Professional Selections The PROFESSIONAL SELECTIONS MEETING is scheduled for THURSDAY, MAY 18, 2017 AT 10:00 AM. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS OF SHORT-LISTED FIRMS: Interviews will be conducted with all short-listed firms. The short-listed professionals will be notified as to the date, time and location of the interviews. A “Detailed Proposal” will be requested from short-listed firms for this project. The following information will need to be provided: detailed resumes for key design and management personnel with references; the firm’s approach to the project, including descriptions of tasks and scope of services, and an explanation of how the approach provides value to the Commonwealth; a detailed description from the firm’s portfolio of a project that illustrates the firm’s ability to translate design intentions into a solution that meets the client’s needs and expectations; an organizational chart and detailed work plan, identifying key personnel roles and percent of time assigned to the project; visual examples of relevant projects completed by the lead design professional and key personnel, with contact information for references for these projects; an assessment of key project issues and risks to the project; a description of the firm’s cost estimating practices, cost data sources and list of recent DD estimates vs contract award costs with project references; identification of special investigations, studies or testing that may be required; a description of how diversity will be accomplished within the team; evidence of financial capability, a list of professional liability claims and/or legal actions within the last ten years and a non-binding fee proposal.
