MODIFIED 09-28-2016 (dates extended) Temple University New Library – General Construction Package DGS Project # 1104-68-PP3-REBID ADVERTISEMENT FOR PROPOSALS
Temple University (“Temple”) is seeking qualified contractors to propose on work for the General Construction Package for Temple’s New Library Project (“New Library”), which will be constructed at 1901-47 Park Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19122.
Temple intends to construct the New Library on its main campus in North Philadelphia. The New Library, which will house Temple’s collection of over 2 million volumes plus special collections, is scheduled to open for the start of Temple’s fall 2018 semester (August 1, 2018). The New Library will consist of 4 levels of interior space plus a basement, and will include student study, research and reference areas, special collections, exhibit and event spaces, as well as administrative and support space. The roof level will include a green roof area and some terrace space. The building will also contain an Automated Storage and Retrieval System for the New Library’s book collection.
The building that formerly occupied the site was demolished under a separate project by the Temple. The New Library project is structured as a multi-prime contract arrangement. Temple has awarded a Prime Contract for the ASRS as well as an early sitework prime contract package that is currently underway to prepare the site, excavate to subgrade, and install caissons. After completion of the early sitework scope of work, a concrete and waterproofing prime contractor will complete the building substructure and foundation waterproofing system, followed by a structural steel prime contractor to complete the building superstructure. The General Construction Prime Contractor and other Prime Contractors are expected to begin work on site while the building structure is being completed. Additional Prime Contractors will include: Mechanical - HVAC, Plumbing & Fire Protection, Electrical, and Low Voltage Systems.
