Description:
Act 70 of 2010 requires the Department of Human Services to competitively bid for agencies to provide adult protective services for persons with disabilities between the ages of 18 - 59. Under Act 70, protective services agencies are to be available 24 hours a day to investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation and/or abandonment. If the protective service agency determines an adult with disability has been abused, neglected, exploited and/or abandoned, it will be required to, as necessary, provide the individual with short term services to address the individual's needs and reduce or eliminate the identified risk. The agency will be required to have trained staff and report back its findings to the Department.
