PennDOT currently operates and maintains 458 maintenance stockpiles throughout 67 counties in eleven (11) Engineering Districts statewide. PennDOT provides specific customizable weather forecasts for each of its stockpile locations through web-based and smart phone applications. The application needs to provide weather warnings through web-based applications, text alert, smartphone applications and email. Advanced warning of inclement weather throughout the year provides PennDOT management staff a proactive means to appropriately deploy staff in response to weather events, statewide.
